Ash Wednesday Service

  • Event date
    5 March 2014 (Starts at: 12:00)
  • Location
    None

Our Ash Wednesday Service will take place in the Room of Quiet at the Hospice on Woodside Avenue, N12. The short service will be led by NLH Church of England Chaplain, Rev. Cindy Kent. All are welcome. The service marks the beginning of the period of Lent for Christians. Lent is the 40 day period of preparation in the run up to the major Christian Feast of Easter. The word ‘Lent’ is an old English word which means ‘Spring’. The idea is that Christians use the period of Lent to prepare or ‘spring clean’ in preparation for Easter. The spring cleaning is of course to do with thinking about and recognising the ways we can improve our lives and our relationships with God & others, rather than literally cleaning the house!
