Outpatients and Therapies

North London Hospice outpatients and therapies is based at both our sites in Finchley and Winchmore Hill. We offer a range of services, tailored to the individual needs of patients with a potentially life-limiting illness, helping them to live life to the full.

On the first visit the patient will have a comprehensive assessment of their needs and an individual programme is agreed. The Service is delivered by clinical nurse specialists, health care assistants, physiotherapists, doctors, qualified volunteer complementary therapists and a large supporting team of trained volunteers who provide practical and/or emotional support to patients and carers.

Outpatients and Therapies offers;

Physiotherapy

The aim of physiotherapy is to maximise mobility and to maintain functional independence. This means focusing on the ability to perform everyday activities. By helping to relieve physical symptoms resulting from life-limiting illness, physiotherapists play an important role in helping to improve quality of life for patients.

Individual and Group Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a supportive service where art materials are used in the presence of a trained Art Therapist to express thoughts, feelings and experiences. For a person living with a diagnosis of a life-limiting condition, Art Therapy can be a valuable part of their treatment, offering psychological, emotional and physical benefits.

Complementary Therapies

Complementary therapies including massage, reflexology, hypnotherapy, acupuncture and reiki work alongside conventional medical treatments with the aim of promoting feelings of relaxation and wellbeing.

Hairdressing and Beauty

Both our sites have a hairdressing and beauty room. This service is part of the overall hospice service which works to help improve a person’s sense of wellbeing.

Living Room and Open Space

We have two large inviting areas at our two sites - the Living Room in Finchley and the Open Space in Winchmore Hill where patients and carers have the opportunity to meet and chat to other patients, volunteers and staff. It also offers the chance to take part in group or individual activities, including crafts, quizzes and games. Musical events, talks and afternoon tea at 3 are also held here.
