We provide specialist 24 hour care at our inpatient unit on Woodside Avenue. Our aim is to help patients maintain their independence and dignity in a warm and supportive environment.
All care is individually planned with patients and families, and we go to great lengths to ensure that their time with us is as comfortable as possible. As well as managing any physical symptoms that may be present, we also make sure that we focus on the wider needs of the individual. For example, by offering support with spiritual and emotional needs as well practical issues.
Families are welcome to visit at any time, day or night, and may stay as long as they wish. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We only restrict visiting hours at the patient’s request.
Our team of palliative care specialists includes: Doctors, Nurses, Social workers, Physiotherapists, Spiritual Care facilitators, Chaplains, Loss and transition counsellors and Complementary Therapists.
We have 18 single rooms, each with their own en-suite toilet, television with Freeview/DVD player, telephone and a small fridge. Alcohol is allowed in the rooms and patients have a designated smoking room. However there is a strict no smoking policy for visitors, either on the premises or Hospice grounds. Mobile phones may be used in the Hospice.
Some rooms have patio doors, which open onto a terrace, and all patients have access to a peaceful courtyard.
All meals are freshly prepared on the premises and we try to cater for any special dietary requirements. Tea, coffee and snacks are always available on request. Families are welcome to bring in home-cooked food, but the patients' nurse must be informed.
