Beauty students from Barnet and Southgate College treated nurses at North London Hospice to a day of beauty treatments on Friday 12 May to celebrate International Nurses Day.

International Nurses Day is an international day celebrated around the world on 12 May (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth) of each year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society.

Nurses were spoilt for choice on the day and could choose pampering sessions such as a relaxing manicure, neck and shoulder massage and an express facial all delivered at the Hospice in Finchley, by level 2 beauty therapy students from Barnet and Southgate College.

Sophie, a nurse who works on the inpatient unit said: “We work really long hours and its great just to feel appreciated now and again. It’s just great to be able to relax for half an hour and switch off.”

Stephanie a level 2 beauty therapy student from Barnet and Southgate College said: “It was a real pleasure to do this for the nurses at North London Hospice. They seem to do such good work here and it’s nice to give them a treat, they really deserve it.”
