Central Square in Hampstead Garden Suburb will be once again the setting for this years Proms at St Jude’s, an arts festival showcasing the very best classical and jazz music and literature. This year literature and music combine to celebrate 150 years since the publication of Alice in Wonderland, with a specially devised entertainment scripted by Louis de Bernieres and narrated by Maureen Lipman, patron of North London Hospice. Daily concerts with top national and international artists will be on offer as well as free lunchtime music recitals. Why not come along to the LitFest taking place at the weekend featuring a whole host of best-selling authors. Take in some local history and sign up to one of the heritage walks on offer. Or you can take it easy and relax with a drink and some delicious home-made cakes at LitFest café. The Festival opens with a weekend of literary delights from eight very different authors. There are free lunchtime concerts and guided walks to promote London’s heritage. Proceeds for this event will be donated to local charities Toynbee Hall and North London Hospice.
