North London hospice has been chosen as Sainsbury’s official charity for the second year running. Staff at Sainsbury’s Highlands Village store, in Florey Square, Winchmore Hill, voted for North London Hospice to be the shop’s Charity of the Year 2013/2014. The store raised more than £3,600 last year following a series of activities and events. Initiatives included bucket collections, cake sales, an in-store cycle and rowing challenge, and several fancy dress events. David Dawson, Store Manager said: “Being located so close to the Hospice’s site in Winchmore Hill, North London Hospice is well known in the local community and amongst our shoppers. We are extremely proud to be offering support and raising awareness for a great cause.” Staff have already kick-started their fundraising with a fun day where shoppers were treated to live music, face painting, competitions and a raffle raising £477. Rose Tyler, community fundraiser at the Hospice, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering Sainsbury’s Highlands Village over the next 12 months and would like to thank the staff for choosing us. We are looking forward to planning lots of activities together in the coming weeks and we hope customers will support the fundraising efforts.”
