North London Hospice has been awarded a national architecture award for its new building in Enfield. North London Hospice in Barrowell Green, Winchmore Hill, won the Royal Institute of British Architects 2013 RIBA National Award in recognition of its “architectural excellence”. Architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris were praised by the judges for creating a “calm, caring environment which is sensitive and subtle”. North London Hospice chief executive Douglas Bennett said: “We are delighted that the quality of the architecture of our new day services building has been recognised in this year’s RIBA Awards. “Our aim was to enhance the feel and quality of end of life care by creating a home from home environment for our patients and we have achieved just that. “There is no doubt that the physical environment of our building makes a huge contribution to the effectiveness of our work and the care given to patients, their families and friends.”
