Light up a Life 2016
Hundreds of lights dedicated to someone special will shine out at North London Hospice this month.
The magnificent horse chestnut tree outside the hospice, in Woodside Avenue, will once again twinkle with lights to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.
This year the ‘Light up a Life’ ceremony will take place on Sunday 27 November at 4.30pm in the Hospice grounds.
During the ceremony people of all ages and faiths will join together in a multi-faith service. The lights will then sparkle every evening from 4pm to 9pm until early January.
This year the choir at Friern Barnet school will be performing at the ceremony and Nicola Miller whose mother was cared for by the Hospice will be saying a few words about the Hospice.
Nicola Miller said: “The North London Hospice holds a very special place in my heart and I feel honored and privileged to be able to speak at the “Light up a Life” ceremony. In a few weeks so many of us will join together to remember those we have lost and I look forward to sharing my story and journey with you all and I hope it helps others who are listening.”
The names of everyone remembered and celebrated will be entered into a ‘Book of Lights’, which will be kept, on display in the hospice Room of Quiet at both sites in Finchley and Winchmore Hill.
All of the money raised will help North London Hospice to continue to provide its care and support to patients, their families and friends in the boroughs of Enfield, Barnet and Haringey.
