Bike riders 015 A team of local electricians are donning their cycling gear and riding 300 miles from London to Paris, in aid of North London Hospice. Richard Jackson, Stephen Stanyer, Neil Foxon, Gary Marlow and Paul West from Thornton Electrical will set off on the four-day challenge on Wednesday 18 September. Thornton Electrical, based in Enfield and Potters Bar, has been maintaining the electrical systems for North London Hospice for over 15 years. Company Director, Stephen Stanyer, father of two from Potters Bar, said: “The five of us taking part in this challenge have worked for North London Hospice for many years now, we see all the great work they do in the Hospice and in the local community. “I’m happy to support a very worthwhile charity, to help raise funds and awareness for the Hospice as they do fantastic work. I have the full support of my wife and children, even though the hours of training have kept me out of the house.” The riders’ first leg will be starting from London and ending in Calais, covering 95 miles. Day two sees them departing Calais and onto Abbeville, covering 75 miles. On day three the electricians will ride 70 miles to Beauvais. The final leg of their journey will end in Paris covering 60 miles. Paul West added: “I am really looking forward to this challenge; we’ve all been training really hard since Christmas last year. The service North London Hospice provides is invaluable. For me it’s really important to be able to give something back to my local community.” The group hope to raise a huge £10,000 for the Hospice that provides specialist care to patients, their families and friends.
