Staff, patients and members of the local community gathered in the North London Hospice Living Room to recognise the contribution of nursing staff.

Nurses’ Day is held on 12 May each year, the birthday of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.

The celebration, which involved beautiful home-made cakes donated by volunteers, tea and music, gave staff the chance to thank their nursing colleagues for their support. The Hospice presented each of them with a bunch of flowers.

Speaking at the tea party, North London Hospice Chief Executive Pam McClinton, said: “We value every member of staff. Nurses’ Day is a chance for us to say a particular ‘thank you’ to our nurses and healthcare assistants. Nursing can be stressful and very difficult at times and also immensely rewarding. We are extremely proud of all our nursing staff across all our services and for the dedicated care and compassion they show day in day out.”
