Calling all fundraisers! Join the 2.6 Challenge and raise money for North London Hospice.
From Sunday 26 April 2020, we are asking you to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 – a number in homage to the 26 miles of the London Marathon. Then with this challenge you have set yourself, you can fundraise either using either the JustGiving page or Virgin Money Giving Page for North London Hospice.
The 2.6 Challenge, will launch on Sunday 26 April 2020 – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon. The challenge will last for a week. The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age and ability. The only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing to ensure the safety of others and yourselves.
To make a fundraising page for the 2.6 Challenge on JustGiving, click here and then press ‘Connect to JustGiving’. Or to make a fundraising page for the challenge on Virgin Money Giving, click here and press ‘Start Fundraising’. Follow the instructions given and then click on North London Hospice as your chosen charity when prompted.
You can choose absolutely anything to do for this challenge. Your imagination – and the current government guidelines – are your only limits! You can run, cycle or walk 2.6 miles, host a 26 minute work out class online, bake 26 cupcakes (and perhaps donate them to another good cause), hula hoop for 2.6 minutes for a week – absolutely anything at all! The challenge is designed for people of all abilities and ages, and can be done at home or in your garden too. With the Covid-19 pandemic has come the cancellation of many mass participation events and in turn, the loss of billions of income for charities of many different scales. The Virgin Money London Marathon is one of these events, which is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019. This was meant to have taken place on 26th April.
Like so many charities across the UK, North London Hospice has been impacted by the cancellation of thousands of fundraising events due to COVID-19, including our much loved Big Fun Walk and the participation of our runners in the London Marathon and the Hackney Half. In response, the organisers of mass sporting events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds for charities of all sizes and causes.
Thank you for supporting North London Hospice and taking on the 2.6 Challenge!
