It is well known that multi-disciplinary health care professionals experience loss, distress and grief in response to their patients’ end of life journey. These emotions can impact on personal well-being, leading to burnout, moral distress, compassion fatigue, and poor clinical decisions which adversely affect patient care. It is important that there is an awareness of the impact of these emotions and the choice of strategies to support oneself.

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of understanding of loss, the grief process and bereavement care
  • Explore their own personal and professional experiences of loss, grief and bereavement which are central to the learning of effective and compassionate care of the dying patient and their family
  • Examine the need for self-care
  • Discuss strategies that provide support for people who are caring for dying patients and their families

Light refreshments, including lunch will be provided.

Fee: £95
