A volunteer like no other
We would like to give a warm welcome back to Val Feifer and share our happiness to hear of her remarkable and brave recovery after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.
Having volunteered at the Hospice since 1999, the story of her incredible recovery after collapsing in her home in May 2016 is nothing short of miraculous.
Val spent eight months in Hospital, barely conscious, and underwent two invasive surgeries. At one point the surgeon even suggested that she should not be resuscitated in the event of a complication.
After her second operation, Val had to learn everything from scratch. How to walk, how to talk, how to cook. The recovery process was far from fast, and a full recovery was never a certainty.
Now, only a few months later, Val has returned to volunteer in the front of house at our Finchley Site and has made a complete recovery. We would like to thank Val for her commitment and support to North London Hospice, and wish her all the best for the future.
