A team of joiners from a business in Staples Corner will be cycling from London to Paris next week to raise cash for their local hospice. Colin McDermott, Warren Hansford, Liam Dixon and Jake Leane, who all work for GMS Bespoke Joinery in Waterloo Road, will take on the 300-mile challenge in aid of North London Hospice. They will embark on the three-day challenge on Saturday 25 May and hope to raise at least £10,000 for the Hospice that cares for terminally ill patients. Colin, 28, said: “We have been clocking up the miles before and after work and even at weekends. It’s been a tough few months of preparation. “We decided to support North London Hospice after we heard about the difference they made to our director’s brother-in-law in the final few days of his life. We are immensely proud to be supporting such a fantastic cause.” Despite being a reasonably active group of lads, Colin says they are looking forward to celebrating with champagne beneath the Eiffel Tower. In commending the commitment and enthusiasm of his staff GMS Director Kevin Gilger also praised the vital work carried out by the Hospice in Woodside Avenue, Barnet. He said: “We cannot thank the Hospice enough for the care and support they gave to my late brother-in-law at home and in the inpatient unit. The staff were truly valuable in making his last few days as comfortable as they could be and were a huge support to the whole family.”   Director of Fundraising for North London Hospice Robin Langrishe said: “The lads are working immensely hard to train for their bike ride challenge and to raise much needed funds for their local Hospice. “We are really grateful for their commitment and we wish them the best of luck on their bike ride and urge people to support them.” To sponsor them visithttp://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/gmslondontoparisbikeride
