Three years ago David’s mother lost her battle with lung cancer. Since then David has been endlessly competing in various bike rides and marathons in memory of his mother raising over £10,000 for North London Hospice, the place where his mother spent her last few days. David, 50 who runs his own business in Enfield said:”I can’t thank the Hospice enough for all they did for my mother and for my family. They aren’t just there for the patient but they are there for the family too, providing comfort and support at such an emotional turbulent time. I’ve always taken part in marathons and bike ride raising money for bigger charities. After experiencing firsthand how wonderful North London Hospice is and what an invaluable service they offer, it only seemed right to give them my support.” David started fundraising for the Hospice back in 2012, and completed the London to Paris bike ride raising £6,000. Last year both David and his father celebrated their 50th and 80th birthdays, and decided to donate all their birthday money to the Hospice, raising £4,000. Now David is setting his sights on a higher challenge. In September this year David will be taking part in the Ride Across Britain challenge, cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The full route is 969 miles broken in to 9 daily stages averaging 108 miles a day. David said: “This is definitely the toughest challenge I’ve ever undertaken, but I’m looking forward to it. I think the hardest part will be the camping as those that know me will know I’m no camper!! I’m currently training three days a week, going to the gym and cycling. I’m also hoping to complete a few 100 mile bike rides within the next few months to get my fitness levels up.” David Gakhar Bike Ride London to Paris To sponsor David go to: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DavidGakhar
