Dying Matters Week 2018
CategoryNorth London Hospice
For 2018, North London Hospice will be marking Dying Matters week with a free information event at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on Thursday 17 May.
The event, in collaboration with a number of health organisations, community groups and charities from across Barnet, aims to open up the conversation about dying, death and bereavement.
Pam McClinton, North London Hospice CEO, said: “Talking about death and dying is still regarded by many as taboo but the reality is, we’ll all be faced with it, and as our population lives longer, it becomes even more important to open up the conversation.
“Dying Matters Week is about encouraging people to actively make plans for themselves, share them with friends and family, support the bereaved and offer support and help to those who may need it. People shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help or to offer help. Communities are growing larger and more varied and all can be affected by death and loss.
“We would like to see a society where dying, death and bereavement are seen and accepted as a natural part of everybody’s life cycle. By discussing these matters more openly, we can help people to access the range of support and care services which are available to them.”
North London Hospice looks forward to welcoming shoppers to the forum to talk safely and openly about death and dying. Come along and meet staff and ask any questions you may have about care and support services throughout Barnet.
FREE refreshments will be served throughout the day.
This event is in collaboration with: North London Hospice, Jewish Care, Barnet Carers, Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK Barnet, Advocacy in Barnet, Barnet Multi-Faith Forum, Healthwatch Barnet, Barnet PPG Network and Barnet CCG.
The event will be held on Thursday 17 May 11am-3pm at:
Pop-up shop, Shop F9, Mall 3, Brent Cross Shopping Centre. (Fenwicks end, beside Santander)
