Ladies are being urged to take part in a new charity walk in aid of North London Hospice. The Twilight Walk on Saturday September 21, will involve participants setting off from Finchley Rugby Club, in Summers Lane, at 6pm and undertaking a seven-mile circular route. Walkers will head towards East Finchley, up East End Road, along Regent’s Park Road before passing North London Hospice, in Woodside Avenue, where there will be an opportunity to light a candle in celebration of someone special before returning to the rugby club. Director of Fundraising at the Hospice, Robin Langrishe, said: “This is the first year the Hospice has organised such an event and we are all very excited and looking forward to a fantastic evening. “North London Hospice is locally renowned for providing the best possible care to people during the final stages of their life and we are hoping the community will really get behind this event.” Walkers will enjoy an organised warm-up before the walk and Rock Chorus will provide entertainment. Refreshments will be provided by Finchley Rugby Club, supporters of this year’s event. The Hospice, which cares for people with a life-limiting illness needs to raise £6.5 million a year with 77 per cent of this needing to be raised through voluntary contributions. Mr Langrishe added: “This is an opportunity for friends and families to get together, have fun, while making a huge difference to their local hospice.” Registration is £20 per person and each participant is required to raise a minimum of £30 sponsorship. Each walker will be given a pair of star head boppers. Anyone over the age of 16 can register now for the Twilight Walk by visiting the hospice’s website www.northlondonhospice.org or calling 020 8446 2288.
